Der Morgenstern in gold'ner Pracht.
Und als ein Mädchen ihn erschaut,
Da [ruft die holde mild]1 und traut.
O hätt' ich dich in meiner Hand,
Du schönster Stern am Himmelsrand!
Da faßt' ich dich als Edelstein 
In einen Ring dem Liebsten ein,
Daß ihm der Strahl des Lichtes lacht,
Kommt er zu mir in finst'rer Nacht,
Und daß er hell die Pfade sieht,
Wenn scheidend er von hinnen zieht.
