I ljusa skyar går solen, till sång blir skymningens röst, i doft den första violen ren slumrat in vid ditt bröst. Ock mitt hjärta, du kära, gömmer en majkvälls strålande sol, och djupt i min längtan drömmer en daggig och vårtrött viol. Det bleknar kring blåa vatten och blundande blomsterland, snart dör i den hvita natten både dofters och färgers brand. Men min ömhets sol, du kära, skall purpra din majnatt röd, och min längtans viol dig bära sin blomdofts fagraste glöd.
