Wenn der Wald schweigt und die Aue ruht
Und am Himmel prangt lichte Rosengluth,
Wenn der Abendwind säuselt durch die Buchen
Und die Vöglein ihre stillen Nester suchen, --
Wenn der Mond taucht aus der dunkeln Au,
Langsam schwimmt durch des Himmels tiefes Blau:
O dann allemal nach dem stillen Thal,
Nach der Heimath sehnt mich's allemal!
