Schweb' empor am Himmel
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations: CAT DUT ENG FRE POR
Schweb' empor am Himmel,
Schöner Abendstern!
Sieht im Glanzgewimmel
Jeder dich ja gern.
Gehn sie auf, gehn nieder
Sie am Himmelsrand,
Keinen deiner Brüder
Schmückt ein solch Gewand.
Ihr's scheint an den Kanten
Leicht mit Gold beklebt,
Dein's aus Diamanten
Durch und durch gewebt.
Steht auch dir zur Seiten
Oft des Mondes Pracht,
Strahlst du doch bei Weiten
Hehrer durch die Nacht.
Ihm leiht fremde Helle
Seinen Perlenglanz,
Voll aus eigner Quelle
Strömt dein Sonnenglanz.
Schweb' empor am Himmel,
Schöner Abendstern!
Sieht im Glanzgewimmel
Jeder dich ja gern.

Soar aloft in the heavens,
Beautiful evening star!
Among the teeming crowd of heavenly lights
Everyone gladly takes note of you.
If they rise, if they set
On the rim of heaven,
None of your brothers
Are clad in such a garment as yours.
Theirs at the edges seems to be
Lightly plastered with gold,
Yours is woven through and through
With diamonds.
Even though at your side
The glory of the moon often stands,
Yet you shine by far
More gloriously through the night.
Another's brightness lends the moon
Its pearly shimmer;
Utterly from your own source
Springs your sun-like radiance.
Soar aloft in the heavens,
Beautiful evening star!
Among the teeming crowd of heavenly lights
Everyone gladly takes note of you.
