Und mag in Nacht und Tagen
Uns böses Schicksal schlagen,
Wir bleiben doch getrost:
Uns ist zu jeder Stunde,
Uns ist für jede Wunde
Ein Balsam zugelost.
Die Liebe lässt auf Erden
Nicht müd' und irre werden

That is the way the path turns!
Now raise your hands, replete with thanksgiving:
Well for us, we are at the gateway.
Behind it is brightness,
Upon the threshold the young light
Is shining forth.
What shall we see now,
When the blades of the turnstile turn?
The pathway, ever the same.
Well for us: the goal has been achieved!
Well for us: we begin anew!
The march begins again.
We pass from gate to gateway
And no step is lost,
If only Love goes along with us.
Well for him, whom Love accompanies,
Good fortune follows him wherever he walks,
And every step is joyful.
And if during night or day
An evil fate strike us,
We nevertheless remain confident:
To us in every hour,
To us for every wound
A balm has been granted.
Love prevents our becoming
Fatigued or lost upon the earth,
And lets no one stand alone.
Arise, year, with joys and pains!
With a pure heart we wish
To enter through your gateway.
