Lenzfahrt
(Sung text for setting by A. Schibler)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Am Himmel wächst der Sonne Glut,
Aufquillt der See, das Eis zersprang,
Das erste Segel teilt die Flut,
Mir schwillt das Herz wie Segeldrang.

Zu wandern ist das Herz verdammt,
Das seinen Jugendtag versäumt,
Sobald die Lenzessonne flammt,
Sobald die Welle wieder schäumt.

 ...

Und ob die Locke mir ergraut
Und bald das Herz wird stille stehn,
Noch muß es, wann die Welle blaut,
Nach seinem Lenze wandern gehn.

Composition:

Set to music by Armin Schibler (1920 - 1986), "Lenzfahrt", op. 48 no. 3 (1956-8), stanzas 1-2,4 [ soli, mixed chorus, men's chorus, and orchestra ], from oratorio Media in vita, no. 3
