Wacher Kummer,
Verlaß ein Weilchen mich!
Goldner Schlummer,
Komm und umflügle mich!
Trockne meine Thränen
Mit deines Schleyers Saum,
Und täusche, Freund, mein Sehnen,
Mit deinem schönsten Traum.

Blaue Ferne,
Hoch über mich erhöht!
Heil'ge Sterne,
In hehrer Majestät!
Sagt mir, ist es stiller, 
Ihr Funkelnden, bey euch, 
Als in der Eitelkeiten
Aufruhrvollem Reich?

Droog mijn natte wangen
Zacht met je sluierzoom,
En wissel mijn verlangen
In voor je mooiste droom.
 
Blauwe verte, hoog
 boven mij zo wijd,
Heil'ge sterren, hoog in majesteit!
Zeg mij, is het stiller
In jullie fonkelrijk
Dan hier waar 'k aan gebeuzel
En oproer haast bezwijk?
