Una pregona solemnitat tremoleja tot a l’entorn del món. Un vel bru embolcalla els boscos i els camps. Somorta, esllanguida i fatigada s’abalteix tota la vida i una pau indicible xiuxiueja al voltant de tots els éssers! Pena que vetlles, deixa’m per un petit instant! Auri adormiment vine i envolta’m amb les teves ales! Asseca les meves llàgrimes amb l’orla del teu vel i enganya, amic, el meu anhel amb el teu somni més formós. Blava llunyania enlairada ben alt al meu damunt! Estrelles sacres, en sublim majestat! Digueu-me, vosaltres, guspires centellejants, hi ha més silenci allà on sou, que en les vanitats d’aquest trasbalsat reialme?
