Die Lerche singt ihr Morgenlied
Froh auf dem weiten Feld,
Bei ihrem hellen Sange zieht
Der Wandrer durch die Welt.
Die Blümlein alle grüßen ihn,
Die Sonne lacht ihm schön;
Er soll vergnügt von hinnen ziehn
Und grüßen Thal und Höhn.
Und fröhlich wandert er dahin
Durch Wald und Feld und Flur
Und lobt und preis't mit frohem Sinn
Den Schöpfer der Natur.
Composition:
Set to music by Carl Loewe (1796 - 1869), "Wanderlied", 1847

The lark is singing its morning song
Joyfully upon the broad lea,
Accompanied by its bright song
The wanderer travels through the world.
All the little flowers greet him,
The sun smiles upon him so beautifully;
He is to travel off contentedly
And to greet valleys and heights.
And happily he wanders on
Through forest, field, and lea
And with a happy spirit he praises and
Exalts the Creator of Nature.
