Es blühet ein Veilchen auf grünender Au,
Von Schwestern und Brüdern verlassen;
Die Wangen, genetzet mit perlendem Thau,
Im Strahle der Sonne erblassen. 

Wie neigt es das Köpchen so traurig und bang,
Wie schliesst es die Äglein so trübe; 
Mir ist es, als dränge zum Ohr mir ein Klang
Von einsam schmachtender Liebe.
