Precz z moich oczu

Precz z moich oczu! Posłucham od razu!
Precz z mego serca! I serce posłucha.

Begone from my sight
(Sung text translation for setting by F. Chopin)
 See original
Language: English  after the Polish (Polski)
Begone from my sight! I’ll obey at once!
Begone from my heart! My heart will obey.
Begone from my memory! No! This order
Cannot be obeyed by our hearts.

Just as a shadow seems longer when it falls from afar,
As this wider circle of mourning will unfurl,
As my figure flees further away,
Our intense connection will fade from your memory.

In every place and in every time,
Where he confessed to you, where he played with you,
everywhere and always I’ll be nearby,
Because he left behind parts of my soul everywhere.

Note: the text above is taken from stanzas 1-3 of the original text.

Translator's note for stanza 3, line 2: "you" refers to the speaker's own heart.
