Mit gutem Fahrwind
 (Sung text for setting by H. Marschner)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CHI
O Wind, mit lustigem Fluge,
Wie hauchst Du so lind und weich!
Wie schwellst Du mit deinem Zuge
Das Herz und die Segel zugleich!

Wol lag in der Mittagshitze
Das Meer so trostlos glatt;
Wol hing von des Mastes Spitze
Das Wimpel schlaff und matt.

Nun aber hebt sich ein Rauschen,
Das Wasser sich munter wiegt;
Die weißen Segel bauschen,
Die Flagge am Maste fliegt.

Die Sonne geht zu Rüste,
Kühlung athmet die Fluth;
Ich grüße die ferne Küste,
Und nun ist Alles gut.

Note: the Marschner score has a typo in stanza 3, line 3 ("lauschen" instead of "bauschen").
