Siegwart
   Heisser Dank ström' aus in Thränen!
Ström dem Mann, von Gott gesandt, zu!
Hör, o Mann, des Jünglings Stammeln!
Seine Seele stammelts.

   Fern, in fremdem Lande hast Du
Feuer in mein Herz gegossen!
Hohe, himmelsvolle Andacht
Wallt zum Thron des Mittlers.

   Daß ich Ihn nun heisser liebe,
Den, für uns, dahin Gegebnen;
Daß ich ganz sein Heil, nun kenne,
Dank' ich dir, Du Edler;

   Nie wird dieses Aug' auf Erden
Sehnsuchtsvoll an Deinem hangen;
Nie wirst Du die Röthe sehen,
Die mein Antlitz färbet!

   Aber, wann des Mittlers Stimme
Mich auch aus dem Grabe rufet,
Dann wirst Du, Gesandter Gottes,
 Meinen Dank auch hören.
