Nach Hause
(Sung text for setting by J. Marx)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Das macht die Sommernacht so schwer:
Die Sehnsucht kommt und setzt sich her
und streichelt mir die Wange.
    Man hat so wunderlichen Sinn;
man will wohin, weiß nicht wohin,
und steht und guckt sich bange.

Wonach?
       Die Fackel in der Hand,
so weist die Sehnsucht weit ins Land,
wo tausend Wege münden.
Ach! einen wüßt ich schon geh'n,
»Nach Hause!« müßte drüber steh'n. -
O Herz, nun geh' ihn finden!

Composition:

Set to music by Joseph Marx (1882 - 1964), "Nach Hause" [ voice and piano ], unpublished

Text Authorship:

  • by Ludwig Jacobowski (1868 - 1900), "Nach Hause", appears in Leuchtende Tage. Neue Gedichte
