Les feuillages blancs des hauts peupliers,
Et mes souvenirs viennent par milliers,
Encore attendris par le jour et l'heure.

Sur le ciel si pur, délicatement
Le coteau planté d'arbres se dessine ;
Tout n'est que clarté vaporeuse et fine,
Et que solitude et qu'apaisement.

La lune se lève et l'Angelus tinte,
Sa voix se disperse à travers les chants,
Et les souvenirs se font plus touchants
Dans leur volupté qui s'achève en plainte.
