Language: German (Deutsch)
O schwarze Nacht, wer hat ihn,
deinen Schleier, aufgedeckt!
Du warst einst All;
da kam ein Funke Feuer
und hat den Weltschein aufgeweckt,
der jetzt noch ist.
In ewgem Wechselkreise
mit Tag und Nacht
rollt er hinweg mir,
bis ich meine Reise,
die kurze Reise,
bald vollbracht,
dann geb ich euch,
die ihr ihn gabet,
wieder, Nacht oder Licht!
dem Weltgeist meinen Geist,
und sinke nieder,
sei ich dann, oder sei ich nicht.
