Die Engel Gottes weinen, Wo liebende sich trennen! Wie werd ich leben können, O Mädchen, ohne dich? Ein Fremdling allen Freuden, Leb' ich fortan dem Leiden! Und du? - - Vielleicht auf ewig Vergißt Luisa mich! ... Im Wachen und im Traume Werd' ich Luisa nennen! Den Namen zu bekennen, Sey Gottesdienst für mich! Ihn nennen und ihn loben Werd' ich vor Gott noch droben! Und du? - - Vielleicht auf ewig Vergißt Luisa mich! ... Ich kann sie nicht vergessen! Forse per sempre, Luisa, mi avrai scordato! ... Nel sogno e nella veglia, invocherò Luisa; per celebrare il nome con religioso amore; e ancora davanti a Dio, io loderò il suo nome. E tu? Forse per sempre Luisa mi avrai scordato! ... Io non posso dimenticarla, dovunque e dappertutto mi incalza per sua mano un'amorosa angoscia. Io tremo, trattenendola, e mi ritrovo solo! E tu?
