Die Tage der Rosen
(Sung text for setting by A. Wallnöfer)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG

The days of roses
(Sung text translation for setting by A. Wallnöfer)
 See original
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
It is still the blossoming, golden time,
Oh you beautiful world, how vast you are!
And my heart is as expansive and as clear as the day,
As joyfully permeated by the songs of the lark as the breezes!
You joyful ones, sing while life is still a-maying:
It is still the beautiful, golden time,
It is still the days of roses.

Free is the heart, and free is the song,
And free is the lad who travels through the world,
And a rosy kiss is given no less freely,
As demure and as bashful the lips may be.
Where a song rings out and a kiss is offered,
There one says: it is still the blossoming, golden time,
It is still the days of roses!

Yes, deep within the heart everything is at home,
The sown seeds of happiness, the sprouts of pain.
Therefore, may the heart be brisk and the spirit lively,
Then, ye storms, roar hither and yon!
But we are always ready to sing:
It is still the blossoming, golden time,
It is still the days of roses.
