Sie sass am Rebenfenster
 (Sung text for setting by J. van Eijken)
 Matches original text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Sie saß am Rebenfenster
Im stillen Kämmerlein,
Und schaute hinaus in den Frühling
Und der Frühling schaute hinein.

Und wer den Weg gegangen,
Blieb stille grüßend stehn,
Von allen den Blumen des Frühlings
Auch die schönste Rose zu seh'n.

Die schickte freundlich lächelnd
Ein frühlingsduftend Wort;
Ein sehnendes Herz zog weiter
Und die Rose blühete fort.

Composition:

    Set to music by Jan Albert van Eijken (1823 - 1868), "Sie sass am Rebenfenster", op. 30 (Fünf Lieder) no. 2
