Venez fillettes et garçons!
Venez tous, garçons et fillettes!
Nous répondrons par nos chansons
À la chanson des alouettes!

Accourez de près et de loin,
On a coupé l'herbe fleurie;
Que partout les meules de foin
S'amoncèlent dans la prairie!

Comme les bras sont pleins d'ardeur!
Comme les coeurs sont à la joie!
Sentez-vous quelle douce odeur
La plaine humide nous envoie?

Dans les sentiers, dans les sillons,
Ramassez bien chaque brin d'herbe!
Du soleil les ardents rayons
Mettent de l'or dans chaque gerbe.

Et ce soir, avec des chansons,
Tout autour d'une meule blonde,
Les fillettes et les garçons
S'assembleront pour une ronde!
