Ich singe dich, liebliches Mädchen, Du
(Sung text for setting by H. Marschner)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Ich singe Dich, liebliches Mädchen, Du!
  Du Herrliche, Du Süße!
Dir jauchzen all meine Gedanken zu,
  All meine Liedesgrüße!

 ...

Dir jauchzen all meine Gedanken zu,
  Dir alle meine Lieder!
Der Sonne gleich strahlest und lächelst Du
  Verklärend darauf nieder!

I praise you in song, you lovely maiden!
(Sung text translation for setting by H. Marschner)
 See original
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
I praise you in song, you lovely maiden!
You glorious one, you sweet one!
All my thoughts turn rejoicingly to you,
  All my song-greetings!

The happiness that you have given me in my life,
I sing it once more in song –
And though my singing is not worthy of you:
  You ennoble my songs!

You sparkle therein like a diamond
  With wondrous fire,
And were the words themselves trivial frippery:
You make them worthy and valuable!

 ...

All my thoughts turn rejoicingly to you,
  To you all my songs!
Like the sun you beam and smile
  Transfiguringly down upon them!
