Leise, Leise, kleine Laute
 (Sung text for setting by F. Danzi)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Leiser, leiser, kleine Laute,
Flüstre, was ich dir vertraute,
Dort zu jenem Fenster hin;
Wie, auf Wellen sanfter Lüfte,
Mondenglanz und Blumendüfte,
Sende meine Klagen hin.

Neid kommt von des Nachbars Söhnen,
Und im Fenster jener Schönen
Blinket noch ein einsam Licht.
Drum noch leiser, kleine Laute:
Dich vernehme die Vertraute,
Nachbarn doch und Mutter nicht.
