Der Himmel ist oft hell
(Sung text for setting by B. Arnim)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Der Himmel ist oft hell, kann dann bald weinen,
Deckt seine klaren Augen zu,
Die erst verhüllet noch zu trauren scheinen,
So glänzest du, so scheinest du.

 ...

Hier blüht der Garten, Lilien deine Wangen
Mit Tausendschönen mischen sich,
Wo keusche Rosen schwankend überhangen,
Schwül ist die Luft für mich und dich.

Note: the text above is taken from stanzas 1,5 of the original text.

The sky is often bright
(Sung text translation for setting by B. Arnim)
 See original
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
The sky is often bright, but then can soon weep,
It covers its clear eyes,
Which only just veiled still seem to mourn;
Thus do you shine, thus do you gleam.

 ...

Here blooms the garden, the lilies of your cheeks
Mingle with amaranths,
Where chaste roses hang down and sway,
The air is humid for me and for you.

Note: the text above is taken from stanzas 1,5 of the original text.

Translated titles:
"Schwüle Luft" = "Humid air"
"Der Himmel ist oft hell" = "The sky is often bright"
