Rechts die Kuppel, links die Kuppel weist
Majestätisch ein dies Bild der Weite.

Ach, wie hatten jene Zeiten Kraft,
Rohes und Wildes in die Kunst zu heben!
Irdischer Gesetzlichkeit entrafft,
Engten sie und weiteten das Leben.

Gehn nicht die Terrassen ab und an
Reifrockdamen, sanft hofiert von  ... 
Eindruckssicher steifen Kavalieren?

Nein, die Gärten zaubern holden Wahn.
Ganz verging dies Planen, Lächeln, Lieben --
Gilb und weh -- nur Schönheit ist geblieben ...

traspassat a les més nobles amplàries:
la cúpula a la dreta, la cúpula a l’esquerra mostren
majestuosament aquesta imatge de l’extensió.

Ai, quina força tenien aquells temps
per elevar el que era bàrbar i salvatge vers el reialme de l’art!
Deslliurats de les lleis terrenals,
estrenyeren i eixamplaren la vida.

Hi ha dames amb mirinyac amunt i avall
de les terrasses, gentilment cortejades per llurs
cavallers tibats i segurs d’ells mateixos?

No, els jardins creen màgicament una il•lusió encisadora.
Tot aquell planejar, somriure, estimar, desaparegué completament –
engroguida i afligida, tan sols la bellesa ha restat....
