Ernestine an Ferdinand:
 Komm in den Wald! komm an den Fels!
   da ruft dir die rauschende Quelle!
 Geh! folg' ihr nach durch Bäum' und Gesträuch,
   und komm' an die einsame Schwelle!
 Des Bräutigams harrte im Hüttchen die Braut auf
   liebegeheiligter Stelle.

Ferdinand an Ernestine:
 Ich war im Wald, ich stand am Fels,
   ich hörte die rauschende Quelle!
 Ich folgt' ihr nach durch Bäum' ud Gesträuch,
   und kam an die einsame Schwelle -
 Die Hüttchen war leer! Mit Wehmut und Schmerz
   verließ ich die heilige Stelle.
