Holde Fraue, allzulange
(Sung text for setting by E. Seyffardt)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Holde Fraue, allzulange
Hab' ich Meer und Land durchmessen,
Allzulange, holde Fraue,
Deines Dienstes gar vergessen.

Töricht war's, um ferne Kämpfe
Heimatliches Glück zu tauschen,
Lindes Wort um Waffendröhnen,
Süßen Sang um Sturmesrauschen.

Holde Fraue, sitzen sollt' ich
Kränze windend dir zu Füßen;
Zieren müßten deine Locken
Alle Blumen, die da sprießen.

Deine Stirne müßten schmücken
Alle Kronen, die da schimmern,
Und des Himmels hellste Sterne
Drin als Edelsteine flimmern.

Holde Fraue, allzulange
Hab' ich Meer und Land durchmessen,
Allzulange, holde Fraue,
Deines Dienstes gar vergessen.
