Maria mild en machtig
 (Sung text for setting by V. Vermin)
 See original
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Maria, mild en machtig,
  vereerd bij God en mensch,
weest, Moeder, mij indachtig
  die mij te beet'ren wensch.
Ik heb mijn schoone dagen
  verroekloosd en verdaan;
en kom, o Moeder, klagen
  bij U voortaan.

Verleed was en verloren
  mijn voetstap en mijn hert,
langs ongebaande sporen,
  vol droefheid en vol smert;
bij nachten en bij dagen
  verzucht ik langs de baan;
en kom, o Moeder, klagen
  bij U, voortaan.

 ...

Maria, milde en machtig,
  ik bid U, en weêrziet,
uw schoonen naam indachtig,
  mij, armen zondaar, niet;
de straffen wil ik dragen
  van 't gene ik heb misdaan,
en kom, o Moeder, klagen
  bij U, voortaan.

Note: E. Tinel's score leaves out many j's in words like "bij" and spells "mijn" as "miin"; and replaces "aa" with "ae" consistently.
