Wiegenlied
(Sung text for setting by L. Keller)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT ENG FRE
Die Ähren nur noch nicken,
Das Haupt ist ihnen schwer;
Die müden Blumen blicken,
Nur schüchtern noch umher.

Da kommen Abendwinde,
So still wie Engelein,
Und wiegen sanft und linde
Die Halm' und Blumen ein.

Und wie die Blumen blicken,
So schüchtern blickst du nun,
Und wie die Ähren nicken
Will auch dein Häuptlein ruh'n.

Und Abendklänge schwingen
So still wie Engelein
Sich um die Wieg', und singen
Mein Kind in Schlummer ein.

Note: in many older editions, the spelling of the word "Ähren" becomes "Aehren", but as can be seen in how "über" becomes "Ueber" when capitalized, this is due to the printing process and not to rules of orthography, so we use "Ähren".

Composition:

Set to music by Ludwig Keller (1847 - 1930), "Wiegenlied", op. 4

Text Authorship:

  • by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben (1798 - 1874), no title, appears in Kinderlieder, in Wiegenlieder II, no. 3

Seuls les épis dodelinent encore
(Sung text translation for setting by L. Keller)
 See original
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Seuls les épis dodelinent encore
Leurs lourdes têtes ;
Les fleurs lasses regardent
Timidement autour d'elles.

Puis vient le vent du soir,
Calme comme un angelot,
Doux et délicat, il berce
Les tiges et les fleurs.

Et comme le font les fleurs
Tu regardes timidement,
Et comme les épis dodelinent,
Ta tête aussi va se poser.

Et les tintements du soir tournent
Doucement comme les angelots
Autour du berceau, et chantent
Pour endormir mon enfant.
