Wiegenlied (im Mai zu singen)
(Sung text for setting by J. Schulz)

Schlaf, Kindlein, schlafe sanft und süß
In diesem Maienparadies!
Sieh über dir der Wipfel Schnee,
Rund um dich her des Angers Klee!
  Im Maien
  Gedeihen,
Die Kindelein weiß und rot.

O schlummre still im Mutterschoß
Recht wie ein Tau am Frühlingssproß!
Hoch über dir der Vöglein Schar
Und neben dir das Bächlein klar!
  Im Maien
  Gedeihen
Die Kindelein weiß und rot.

 ...

O schlaf an meinem Herzen ein!
Dann werden Englein um dich sein,
Sie tragen dir in sanfter Ruh
Die fernen Himmelsträume zu;
  Die Schwingen
  Erklingen,
Und kühlen die Wänglein dir.
