té el poder del déu més gran,
avui esmola la ganiveta
perquè talli molt millor encara,
aviat vindrà aquí a segar,
l’hem de suportar.
Vés amb compte, formosa petita flor!
El que avui és encara verd i fresc,
demà ja serà segat:
els nobles narcisos,
ornament de les prades,
els jacints tan bells,
els lliris morats.

Són molts, cent mil, incomptables
que cauen sota la falç,
vosaltres roses, vosaltres lliris,
ell us exterminarà,
tampoc perdonarà
les corones de rei.

Les veròniques, color de cel,
les tulipes grogues i blanques,
les campànules d’argent,
les centaures daurades,
