Wie erscholl der Gang des lauten Heers
Von dem Gebirg in das Tal herab,
Da zu dem Angriff bei dem Waldstrom das Kriegslied
Zu der vertilgenden Schlacht und dem Siege den Befehl rief!

Mit herab zu großer Taten Ernst!
Zu der unsterblichen Rettung Ruhm!
Die am Gebirg bei dem Strom stolz uns erwarten,
Und im Gefilde der Schlacht mit dem Donner in dem Arm stehn,

O Tyrannenknechte sind sie nur!
Und vor dem Drohn des gesenkten Stahls,
Vor dem Herannahn, und dem Ausspruch der Freien,
Die sich dem Tode gelassener heiligen, entfliehn sie!
