Wenn Graun der Nacht
 (Sung text for setting by F. Himmel)
 Matches original text

Geheim entlaubt die dunkle Hand den Wald;
Und Schweigen ruht um längst versunkne Trümmer;
Du trittst hervor in deinem leisen Schimmer,

Composition:

    Set to music by Friedrich Heinrich Himmel (1765 - 1814), "Wenn Graun der Nacht", 1831, published 1959, from Gesänge aus Tiedge's Urania, no. 17

Text Authorship:

  • by Christoph August Tiedge (1752 - 1841), no title, appears in Urania, in Sechster Gesang (Freiheit. Wiedersehn)
