o testimon' de la mia grave vita,
quante volte m'udiste chiamar morte!
Ahi dolorosa sorte
lo star mi strugge, e 'l fuggir non m'aita.
Ma se maggior paura
non m'affrenasse, via corta et spedita
trarrebbe a fin questa apra pena et dura;
et la colpa è di tal che non à cura.
