Frage und Antwort
 (Sung text for setting by J. Marx)
 Matches original text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
So lang' ich werde: "Liebst du mich,
O Liebster?" dich fragen,
So lange sollst: "Ich liebe dich,
O Liebste!" mir sagen.

Werd' ich mit Blicken: "Liebst du mich,
O Liebster!" dich fragen,
Mit Küssen sollst : "Ich liebe dich,
O Liebste!" mir sagen.

Und wird ein Seufzer: "Liebst du mich,
O Liebster?" dich fragen;
Ein Lächeln soll: "Ich liebe dich,
O Liebste!" mir sagen.

Composition:

    Set to music by Joseph Marx (1882 - 1964), "Frage und Antwort", 1909, published 1910 [ soprano and piano ], in Lieder und Gesänge, I. Folge, Nr.9
