O schöne Zeit! O menschliches Gebaren! Der eine ist dem andern etwas schuld, der ist tyrannisch, doch er zeigt Geduld und läßt den Schuldner auf die Hochzeit fahren. Ein Bürge bleibt. Der Schuldner ist heraus. Doch je, obgleich natürlich die Natur ihm selbst so manche Ausflucht bietet, stur kehrt er zurück und löst den Bürgen aus. Solch ein Benehmen macht Verträge heilig. In solchen Zeiten kann man auch noch bürgen. Hat es der Schuldner mit dem Zahlen eilig, braucht man ihn auch nicht allzu stark zu würgen. Und schließlich zeigte es sich ja auch dann: Am End' war der Tyrann gar kein Tyrann.
