(Sung text for setting by O. Dresel)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE
Kuckuck, Kuckuck ruft aus dem Wald:
Lasset uns singen,
Lasset uns springen!
Frühling, Frühling wird es nun bald.

Kuckuck, Kuckuck läßt nicht sein Schrei'n:
Komm in die Felder,
Wiesen und Wälder!
Frühling, Frühling, stelle dich ein!

Kuckuck, Kuckuck, trefflicher Held!
Was du gesungen,
Ist dir gelungen:
Winter, Winter räumet das Feld.

Note: the word "Kuckuck" is sometimes spelled "Kuckuk" (or "Kuk-kuk" in scores, since "ck" becomes "kk" when the syllables are separated).

Composition:

Set to music by Otto Dresel (1826 - 1890), "Frühlingsbotschaft", 1849

Text Authorship:

  • by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben (1798 - 1874), "Frühlingsbotschaft", appears in Lyrische Gedichte, in Kinderleben, in Die vier Jahreszeiten, in 1. Der Frühling
