Ach, ich sehne mich nach Tränen,
Liebestränen, schmerzensmild,
Und ich fürchte, dieses Sehnen
Wird am Ende noch erfüllt.

Ach, der Liebe süßes Elend
Und der Liebe bittre Lust
Schleicht sich wieder, himmlisch quälend,
In die kaum genes'ne Brust.

Set to music by Anton Deprosse (1838 - 1878), "Ach, ich sehne mich nach Tränen", op. 26 no. 5, published 1868

Ah, je voudrais pleurer
(Sung text translation for setting by A. Deprosse)
 See original
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Ah, je voudrais pleurer,
Des larmes d'amour, doux chagrin,,
Et je crains que ce désir
Ne soit enfin jamais satisfait.

Ah, la douce misère de l'amour
Et l'amer plaisir de l'amour,
Tortures célestes, à nouveau s'insinuent
Dans ma poitrine tout juste guérie.

Les yeux bleus du printemps
Me regardent de la prairie ;
