Jagdlied
(Sung text for setting by F. Mendelssohn)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  DUT
Mit Lust tät ich ausreiten
Durch einen grünen Wald,
Darin da hört' ich singen
Drei Vög'lein wohlgestalt,
Und sind es nicht drei Vögelein,
So sind's drei Fräulein fein,
Soll mir die Ein' nicht werden,
So gilt's das Leben mein.

Die Abendstrahlen breiten
Das Goldnetz über'n Wald,
Und ihm entgegen streiten
Die Vög'lein, daß es schallt.
Ich stehe auf der Lauer,
Ich harr' auf dunkle Nacht,
Es hat der Abendschauer
Ihr Herz wohl weich gemacht.

In's Jubelhorn ich stoße,
Das Firmament wird klar,
Ich steige von dem Roße,
Und zählt' die Vögelschaar.
Die Ein' ist schwarzbraun' Anne,
Die Andre Bärbelein,
Die Dritt' hat keinen Namen,
Die soll mein eigen sein.

Jachtlied
(Sung text translation for setting by F. Mendelssohn)
 See original
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
Met lust ging ik uit rijden,
Te paard door 't groene woud,
Daarin, daar hoord' ik zingen
Drie vogels welgebouwd,
En als het niet drie vogels zijn,
Dan zijn 't drie juffers fijn.
Zal ik de een niet krijgen,
Dan zal 't mijn einde zijn.

De avondstralen breiden
Hun goudglans over 't woud,
Hun heerschappij bestrijden
De vogels onverflauwd.
Ik sta doodstil en luister,
Wacht op de donk're nacht,
De stille avondluister
Heeft hen tot rust gebracht.

Mijn hoorn verbreekt het zwijgen,
Het firmament wordt klaar,
Ik ga van 't ros afstijgen
En tel de vogelschaar.
De een is donk're Anne,
De and're Barbelijn,
De derde heeft geen naam nog,
Die moet mijn liefje zijn.
