Des frimas avril est vainqueur,
Et moi je t'aime, ô jeune fille,
C'est avril aussi dans mon cœur.

Les blés sont murs, le bois est sombre,
L'onde à peine a quelque fraicheur,
L'été partout fait chercher l'ombre,
C'est encore avril en mon cœur.

Le ciel est gris , la plaine est blanche,
L'hiver sévit dans sa rigueur,
Dans les monts rugit l'avalanche,
