Her sviv me no glade um Sumars Tid;
i Fjelle finn me dei finaste Straa;
i Dalen strøymer den stride Aa.
Og Vinden stryker so ljuv og linn
som signande Sus fraa den klaare Tind.

Drøym godt um meg og den grøne Li!
Der sullar me sæle den Sumar lang;
til Hausten skal me paa Heimevang.

Ici, pendant l'été on vagabonde avec joie ;
Sur la montagne on trouve les plus fins herbages ;
dans la vallée coule le ruisseau rapide.
Et la caresse du vent est aussi douce et légère
que le bruissement béni des clairs sommets.

Ô Kyri mon amie, ô ma Kyri !
Rêve bien, de moi et de la verte prairie !
Nous chanterons là haut avec joie tout l'été ;
à l'automne nous rentrerons à la maison.
Alors toi, tu marcheras vers la ferme comme une reine,
et tout le monde s'écriera : « non mais ! Quelle vache ! »
