Schillers Lied
 (Sung text for setting by A. Methfessel)

Language: German (Deutsch)

Es tönen die Hörner von ferne herüber,
Die Düfte des Abends umwehen mich mild;
Der Himmel verschleiert sich trüber und trüber,
Bald decket nun Dämm'rung das ganze Gefild.

Des Tages Verwirrungen, Wünsche und Sorgen,
Sie lösen sich leise im wechselnden Raum,
Doch bleibet was tief in der Seele verborgen,
Die Liebe, geheiligt im seligsten Traum.

Verhallen auch jenseits die Töne der Freude;
Uns bleibet der Liebe beglückender Ton,
Er sei es, woran meine Seele sich weide,
Bis einst mit dem Leben die Liebe entfloh'n.
