Vor schnaubenden Stürmen 
Die Wolken sich thürmen,  
Es rauschen und toben 
Die Ströme von oben, 
Im Walde die Wipfel der Eichen 
Erliegen des Wetters gewaltigen Streichen. 

Denn froh kann ich lauschen  
Dem Toben und Rauschen 
Und jubeln und lachen 
In's Schmettern und Krachen, 
Doch, hoch über'm Erdengetriebe, 
Mein seliges Herz ist im Himmel der Liebe!
