Translation by Karl Adolf Florenz (1865 - 1939)

Treues Gedenken
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Japanese (日本語)
Wie könnt' ich je vergessen dein,
Sei's für die kurze Frist auch nur,
In der ein Blitz aus Herbstgewölk
Erhellt die Ähren auf der Flur?

Confirmed with Dichtergrüsse aus dem Osten, Japanische Dichtungen. Übertragen von Prof. Dr. K. Florenz in Tokyo, Leipzig: C. F. Amelangs Verlag; Tokyo: T. Hasegawa, 1896, page 30.

Note: in many older editions, the spelling of the word "Ähren" becomes "Aehren", but as can be seen in how "über" becomes "Ueber" when capitalized, this is due to the printing process and not to rules of orthography, so we use "Ähren".
