by Théodore Faullin de Banville (1823 - 1891)

Parade
Language: French (Français)
La Saltimbanque aux yeux pleins de douceur
Frappe et meurtrit les cymbales sonores.
Son front, semé de taches de rousseur,
Est plus brûlé que les rivages mores
Et rouge encor du baiser des aurores.
Charmante, elle a des bijoux de laiton ;
Pour égayer son maillot de coton,
Elle a brodé sur sa jupe une guivre ;
Ses cheveux, noirs comme le Phlégéton,
Sont enfermés dans un cercle de cuivre.
