Wehmut
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): CAT DUT ENG FRE
Die Abendglocke tönet,
Vom Himmel sinkt die Ruh;
Das Auge grambetränet
Nur schließet sich nicht zu.
Daß meine Jugend fliehet
Allein und ungeliebt,
Daß jeder Kranz verblühet,
Das ist, was mich betrübt.
Und als ich sie gefunden,
War Herz und Welt nur Lust,
Und seit sie mir entschwunden,
Ist Atmen ein Verlust.
Der Strom aus Felsen quillend,
Die Berge lieben nicht;
Nur's arme Herz, das fühlend,
So leicht von Kummer bricht.
O töne, sanft Geläute,
In's stille Tal [hinaus]1,
Der Morgen deckt das Heute,
Den Gram das Grabeshaus.

Melangia
Language: Catalan (Català)  after the German (Deutsch)
La campana del vespre sona,
la pau davalla del cel;
els ulls plens de llàgrimes d’aflicció
no es poden tancar.
Que la meva joventut s’enfugi
sol i sense ser estimat,
que cada garlanda es marceixi,
això és el que m’entristeix.
I quan jo la vaig trobar,
el cor i el món eren pura joia
i, des que ella em desaparegué,
respirar és un malguany.
El torrent que brolla de les roques,
les muntanyes no estimen;
només el pobre cor que, ple de sentiment,
tan fàcilment d’aflicció es trenca.
Oh sons, dolç repic de campanes,
vers el fons de la tranquil·la vall,
el matí embolcalla l’avui
i la pena el sepulcre.
