by Karl Eduard von Holtei (1798 - 1880)

Grünender Hügel, was lachst du so hell?
Language: German (Deutsch)
Grünender Hügel
Was lachst du so hell?
Buntes Geflügel,
Was fliegst du so schnell?
Blümlein was blüht ihr
Auf grünender Au´?
Bächlein, was zieht ihr
So tief, so blau?

Hügel, umschling´dich
Mit Wintergewand!
Vogel, o schwing´ dich
In fremdes Land!
Blumen, verflieget
Den Winden ein Hohn,
Bächlein, versieget! –
Sie ging davon.

Blumen und Hügel
Wohl bleiben am Ort,
Haben nicht Flügel
Und können nicht fort.
Vögel und Bäche
Auf, eilet zu ihr;
Jegliches spreche:
Er schickt mich Dir!
