Die Äolsharfe in der Ruine
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
In des Turms zerfallner Mauer
Tönet bei der Lüfte Gleiten
Mit bald halb zerrißnen Saiten
Eine Harfe noch voll Trauer.
In zerfallner Körperhülle
Sitzt ein Herz, noch halb besaitet,
Oft ihm noch ein Lied entgleitet
Schmerzreich in der Nächte Stille.

The Aoelian harp in the ruins
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
In the mouldering wall of the tower
When the breezes glide past,
A harp with strings half broken
Still sounds, full of sorrow.
In the crumbling shell of a body
There resides a heart, with only half its strings,
Often still a song slips from it,
Full of pain in the stillness of night.
