Des Lenzes Minnefahrt
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Die Frühlingslüfte brausen
Mit Macht durch's grüne Land,
Sie weben unter Sausen
Der Erde Brautgewand.
Vom wilden Hochwald drüben
Ertönt es wie Schalmein;
Des Südens Sänger üben
Den Hochzeitsreigen ein.
Und froh grüßt jede Welle,
Aus Duft und Klang gepaart:
Glück auf, du Trautgeselle,
Zu deiner Minnefahrt!

Spring’s journey of wooing
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
The spring breezes swoosh
Mightily through the green land,
In their rushing they weave
The bridal garment of the earth.
From the wild high forest yonder
There is a sound as of shawms;
The southern singers are rehearsing
The wedding roundelay.
And every wave gives joyful greeting,
A pairing of scent and sound:
Good luck to you, dear fellow,
Upon your journey of wooing!
