by Catulle Mendès (1841 - 1909)

Laisse‑les dire
Language: French (Français)
Laisse-les dire ! Nous irons
Dans le bois décorer nos fronts
De liane et de liserons !

La douleur n'est pas éternelle :
On reverra frémir une aile
Sur réglantier de la venelle.

Elle reviendra, la saison
Des vers luisants sous le gazon
Les amoureux seuls ont raison.

Quand la sève gonfle la vigne,
La froide neige se résigne
A fleurir, lys, à voler, cygne !

Malgré l'effort des envieux,
Mes lèvres au bord de tes yeux
Boiront des pleurs délicieux,

Et nous fuirons sous les tonnelles.
Course folle où tu t'échevèles,
En chantant mes odes nouvelles !
