La Pervenche

Pâle fleur, timide pervenche,
Je sais la place où tu fleuris,
Le gazon où ton front se penche
Pour humecter tes yeux flétris !

C'est dans un sentier qui se cache
Sous ses deux bords de noisetiers,
Où pleut sur l'ombre qu'elle tache
La neige des fleurs d'églantiers.

L'ombre t'y voile, l'herbe égoutte
Les perles de nos nuits d'été,
Le rayon les boit goutte à goutte
Sur ton calice velouté.

Une source tout près palpite,
Où s'abreuve le merle noir;
Il y chante, et moi j'y médite
Souvent de l'aube jusqu'au soir.

O fleur, que tu dirais de choses
A mon amour, si tu retiens
Ce que je dis à lèvres closes
Quand tes yeux me peignent les siens!
